Types of Classes Offered

The Education Center of the Ocean County Board of REALTORS® offers a variety of credited, non-credited, designation, and certification classes that are available to our members, and most are also offered to other real estate professionals.

Designations and Certifications

The Education Center offers a variety of designation and certification programs to help individuals grow as industry professionals.

National Association of REALTORS® (NAR)'s Resort and Second-Home Markets: With this course, the real estate professional will be able to distinguish themselves from others with knowledge and special skills regarding the Resort and Second-Home market. Individuals taking this course are able to earn RSPS certification during a one day course, and are also provided with free webinars and customizable marketing materials.

NAR's Military Relocation Professionals (MRP) Certification: With the MRP certification, individuals will be able to better assist former or current military service members find housing solutions. Individuals will also be able to help military service members take full advantage of their military benefits and support.

Short Sales and Foreclosures: By taking this course, real estate professionals will become more comfortable navigating the ins-and-outs of short sales and foreclosures. Individuals taking this course will be able to take the SFR exam to earn their SFR certification, and also have access to free webinars.

Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC)'s Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES): Individuals taking this course will learn about the 50+ market and develop sensitivities to the issues of the Adult Communities. Real estate professionals will also gain a better understanding of financial options, tax matters, and legal matters. This course includes a 1 year membership to the SRES Council.

REBAC and NAR's "The Source of Excellence in Buyer's Representation": This is the core of the Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR) designation program. By taking this course, real estate professionals will be able to increase their confidence to work towards a signed buyer representation agreement, if written buyer's representation agreements are customary in your market.

Other classes

In addition to the designations and certification programs, the Education Center offers a variety of classes throughout the year, which are either credited or non-credited.

Recent classes include:

Pre-licensing: The Education Center offers Pre-licensing for individuals looking to earn their real estate license.

Broker Courses: These courses prepare and certify individuals who are looking to become brokers by providing general information, broker ethics, and office management.

12 Credit CE Classes: A variety of these classes are offered throughout the year. Real estate professionals are able to earn 12 CE credits after the completion of the 2-day course. Topics in the past have included Real Estate Ethics, Understanding Fair Housing, Transfer of Title, Advertising, and Understanding Contracts.

Breakfast at the Board

The Education Center also provides occasional "Breakfast at the Board," which provides attendees with a Continental Breakfast and a credited or non-credited course. We try to keep topics timely and recently have included Tidelands and Riparian Issues, Mortgage Financing, Video Marketing, Mold and Lead Paint (and what to do about it), Business Planning, Home Equity Conversions, and An Introduction to Commercial Real Estate.
